Here’s something really cool I’m sure most of you Android users will appreciate. Well, at least those Android users that own a Motorola Droid Razr or the Droid Razr Maxx will appreciate this. If you have either the Droid Razr or the Droid Razr Maxx, you are eligible for a free upgrade for your operating system called “Ice Cream Sandwich”. I’m not going to talk about all of the cool new things that ICS has to offer. There are already plenty of other sites that do that – such as the Android ICS website itself (http://www.android.com/about/ice-cream-sandwich/). However, I will show you how to get the upgrade which is extremely simple to do.
To upgrade the operating system on your Motorola Droid Razr or Droid Razr Maxx, go to Settings, scroll to the bottom, and click on “About phone”. Then, simply tap “System updates” and sit back while Android handles the rest. During the upgrade process, you will be presented with a few questions like “are you sure you want to download the update?” and “are you sure you want to install the update?”. Just keep clicking your way through the installer and you will be the new proud owner of the latest version of Android that’s out today. I will warn you though that the installation takes about 30 minutes to complete. So, your phone will be completely useless until the update has finished. During that time, you will not be able to make or receive any calls, text messages, emails, etc…
After the update has finished, you’ll probably find that you have to reset a few settings your phone previously had. For example, I changed my email signature to something other than “Sent from my Android 4G LTE blah blah blah” message. When the update was finished, my email signature was reset back to the default which means I had to change it again back to my custom email signature. There are also a few other changes I had to do and things I had to reset. But, overall, the update worked without any problems. So, go ahead. Try it for yourself. You’ll be glad you did! 🙂
